I make hand fabricated and enameled copper and sterling silver jewelry. I form my jewelry with saws, files and hammers, and embellish it with etching and enameling. I then assemble it using solder, rivets, and various other cold connections. The enameling is mostly champleve style and enamels are applied using a torch or fired in a kiln.
I make jewelry because it gives me the opportunity to work with almost any material to create miniature wearable sculpture. I am able to use metal, fiber, glass, wire, beads and stones. I can hammer, file, solder and sew. I use traditional methods that have been used for centuries and I can be challenged by new and ever evolving methods that have only just been discovered.
